Registration opens Wednesday, Apr. 6 for the May 18 Event for Women. Our special guest this year is Linor Abargil, an Israeli lawyer, actress, and former Miss World. She has spoken to sold-out crowds of women in Boca, Chicago, and Houston, just to name a few, and we are fortunate to be able to bring her to our community. Join over 400 multigenerational women in support of the Jewish Federation and our family of agencies. When women come together in the name of tzedakah, they exercise their power to make a difference through giving.
Abargil was abducted and a victim of sexual violence at the age of 18–just six weeks before representing Israel in the Miss World competition. When she won the Miss World crown, she vowed to speak out against sexual violence. Abargil travels around the world, advocating for victims of rape and sexual assault–from teens in South Africa to American college students. She encourages victims to take a stand against sexual violence by putting an end to their silence. Her powerful story can be seen in the 2014 Emmy-nominated documentary Brave Miss World.
Thank you to our Co-Chairs Pattie Feinerman and Valerie Linden for helping to organize this year’s Event for Women. And, thank you to our sponsors for their support in bringing this very special event to our community: Cooper University Healthcare (Presenting sponsor), Artis Senior Living of Evesham and TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank (Diamond sponsors), and Charny, Charny and Karpousis (Gold sponsor).
Join us at 6 p.m. on May 18 to hear Abargil speak about her experiences and enjoy dinner, dessert, and cocktails. There is a $75 couvert for this event.
